Learn Three Macrame Bracelet Designs using Bicone Beads

View the Product Used in this Project

Hello guys, today I prepared a Macrame bracelet marathon for you! In this post, you will learn how to make three gorgeous macrame bracelets with bicone beads.

If you are intimidated by their complicated look, don't worry! All three designs are based on the exact same macrame knot -- double half hitch knot. By adding embellishments and changing orders of beads, you get three different looks. I used sparkle bicone crystal beads for all three designs to give them a beautiful color and shine. Now let's start creating!

Design No.1. Purple and Yellow Lace Bracelets

This delicate bracelet is the most basic among the three designs. In the video below, you will learn how to create the basic pattern using the double half hitch knot; how to embellish the bracelet using gold seed beads, and how to create an adjustable closure using the square knot.

The timetable of the video is listed below:

01:37 How to Make Double Half Hitch Knot
07:56 How to Embellish The Bracelet
11:16 How to Make Adjustable Closure (Square Knot)

Materials needed are listed below:

a. 3mm bicone beads (purple/yellow)
b. 3meters 0.65mm waxed cord (purple/yellow)
c. 2mm gold seed beads
d. beading thread
e. beading needle

Design No.2. Pink and Clear Crystal Bangles

The second design shares the same basic pattern with the first one. The only difference between the two is the embellishments. By adding the bicone and gold seed beads on top of the bracelet, we created a 3D effect with beautiful shine.

The video below will show you how to do that. If you've watched the first video, you can go directly to the embellish part, the other two parts (double half hitch knot and square knot) are the same as the first video.

Design No.3.Black and Red Wide Bracelets

The third bracelet still shares the same pattern as the previous two. However, I tweaked the design by adding the gold seed beads between the knots, and increasing the number of the beads for each side. Watch the video below to learn how to make it.

    • Hi Janet,
I want to share an experience I had. I stopped in a shop where I have been a regular customer, have bought lots of supplies, both in person and online, for over 10 years, and I know the owner. I live in Florida, and this store is right on the beach. Like everything else in the ‘elite’ area on the Gulf, they are very expensive. I saw a knot on leather I didn’t know how to make, so I asked the owner if she would show me how it’s done? She refused, as if it were a trade secret! She wasn’t busy…I was the only customer in the shop. When I asked her if there was a reason she wouldn’t share, she told me I would learn it better if I looked it up myself, as if I were a 10 year old! I’m retired, have lots of experience, am much older than she is, and I resented being talked to that way. I went home and searched online and finally found a tutorial for making that knot and learned how to do it. I also stopped spending money at that store. They lost a loyal customer because of one knot and a bad attitude.

I wanted to tell you that story and point out, because you are open to sharing your knowledge and offering free tutorials, that it’s an absolutely brilliant thing that you do! It shows you love your business, and care about your customers! It really helps people to show they have choices and can learn how to maximize the beauty of the beads they buy! Yes, of course it sells products. Isn’t that why you’re in business? I also love that you offer free shipping. We know the shipping costs are included in the products, but when you see a price point, you know when you get to the checkout that there won’t be any surprises in additional costs at the end! It makes our shopping experience so much nicer! It’s exactly what we want….Great products, a chance to learn new techniques, and a simple checkout! Congratulations!! I want to say thank you for putting so much thought into your business! My only regret is that I didn’t find you much sooner!

Live, laugh, love, be well & happy,
      ~Jackie
